Are you planning on visiting Los Angeles? Which hotels are you referring to? I should mention that one of the hotels that had a gated elevator since heavily modernized their elevator (no longer gated). The other one that I'm thinking of may still be there, but I am hesitant to suggest going there as it is a very sketchy place. If you are referring to the building with the bank of 2 Westinghouse elevators with Adams fixture replacements (original indicators, original controllers), I'm pretty sure that building is 100% vacant and is about to be gutted (ALL existing elevators removed). The building actually has 5 elevators, the bank of 2 passengers, a completely original, but defunct passenger, and 2 freights (which also have Adams fixture replacements) In terms of other places to visit, depends on which areas you plan to visit. Los Angeles city limits are very large, and the metropolitan area is even larger. I assume you plan to go downtown at least?

@@upanddownadventuresthis place has an interesting history. The building was heavily remodeled in 2018 despite opening in 2008. The restaurant used to be on 1 and 2R. 2 and 3R were locked on the elevator before remodel. When they remodeled the restaurant is now only on 1 and they squeezed in more tables in a smaller space it might be a little of a fire hazard. The elevator used to serve the restaurant before remodel which is why the doors are configured this way to make it easier for the dim sum carts to roll in and out of the elevator. The entire building is owned by the restaurant owner.

This version specifically? The larger version of these buttons (which I think is what the Civic Center Garage in SF has for example, also found on some Kone installs) I have come across a few times in California, but these buttons are smaller (this is my first time finding these "small vandal resistant" Innovation buttons).

Did you ever ride the Caltrain elevator pre-modernization? I'm very curious what it was like pre-mod, especially if it was labeled Mitsubishi anywhere, and what fixtures it had. Based on the permit I think it was modded in 2022. I did also film the VTA platform elevator, but neither of the VTA escalators were running. It's possible they are only turned on during morning/evening commute hours on weekdays, but not sure.

@@upanddownadventures Never went pre mod, but a friend has a video of it pre mod. One of the escalators we’re working when I went here. I spoke with the elevator maintainers on the vta side and they told me the escalators break down a lot when it rains as they aren’t covered with overhang. Mitsubishi on Caltrain side and Montgomery on vta side. There is one of the two escalators on the vta side maintainers are trying to fix as that one has been broken for a very long time.

I'm not sure about the manufacturer, but as far as I know this is a 100% complete replacement. It appears that the store (or at least the above ground part) was demolished and completely rebuilt.

I think I had this place on my list for that exact reason! Based on my research, I'm pretty sure that elevator was located in a different Blick Art Materials store that has since closed down. I didn't visit that building, so I have no clue of it's current status.

There’s the famous manual freight at the building which I won’t disclose here!

I filmed every elevator at this station (including the ones in the BART station, garage, and the one on the other side of the street by the apartment complex) but haven't uploaded the videos yet.

@@upanddownadventures The footbridge elevator across montague expressway when I went was broken. The doors were closed, the elevator sat on 1, the indicator on the outside alternated between 1 and IS (stands for independent service). I didn’t know an elevator can be in independent service, doors closed with no one inside of it as independent service the doors stay open unless someone is in it holding door close.

In Lake Tahoe? I'm aware of a few older/vintage elevators in that area including that one, but it isn't an area I have visited. The Bay Area has a lot of these IECO swing door elevators in apartment buildings.
